Show Year 2007

Start of the 2008 Show Year

Can’t believe a new year has come around again. I am so into getting to a show, I have entered the first show in my areain themiddle of winter!!

The Brandon Dog show is the middle of February and even though I have no idea of what the weather will be like, off I go!!!

Brandon Dog Show

February 15, 16, 17 and 18th 2008

TangoBoy, did we luck out!!! The roads were clear and bare and the weather was great for the drive out to Brandon. Great place, lots of room and the club even had some youngsters to help unload all our gear.

This time out I only took two of my poodles, Tyramara’s Razzle Dazzle and Ch. Tyramara’s Tango My Life.

DazzleI had two goals this weekend, one, hopefully, to finish Dazzle or at least obtain some more points toward her championship and two, to see how Tango would work out as a special.

After 5 months of being away from the show circuit, Tango was not a happy boy to be back in the ring. Although, he did what he was asked to do, he had no fun and didn’t “sparkle” like the judges like to see. I have decided that Tango has shown me that he does not want to be doing this anymore, so he is retired to enjoy himself at home running and playing.

On the other hand, Dazzle did very well taking Best of Winners all four days for a total of 5 more points toward her championship. Not to bad for the first show of the season!

So, now it is off to the next show to see how we do!

Northwinds Dog Club

March 28th, 29th and 30th 2008

After doing so well, weather wise, I figured Winnipeg the end of March would be a snap. Wrong!!!

Boy, just starting out was an adventure. The snow was so bad, that you couldn’t even see the road. Less than half an hour from home, the storm hit with a vengeance!

If it weren’t for my girlfriend driving, I would have turned back. Luckily for us, after 5 hours of white knuckle driving, we drove out of it near Virden.

This time around I took Tyramara’s Fire in the Sky and Teralea’s Miracle in Red, my miniature pinschers. Space was limited and there was not washing facilities for my poodles and the poodles don’t do well if they can’t be groomed properly.

For once there were actually a number of miniature pinschers entered and any wins would mean some decent points for the winner. So, I was hoping for the best.

Skyla and Miracle had not been out for a while and although I had done a lot of work with them, min pins are temperamental when they want to be. Once of the reason I like to show them is they make me work so hard for every point. They know what they are to do, but don’t always do want you want.

Considering the competition and my girls’ first time out, I felt I did well at least with Miracle.

MiracleShe managed to take Best of Opposite and Winners Female on the Saturday and would have taken Best of Breed if she had only shown a little of that “sparkle” that the judge was looking for.

Unfortunately for me, the next morning was a disaster! The lady next to us dropped her metal tack box which made a horrendous noise and scared the **** out of both the girls and that was it for any hope of points. It was all I could do to get them calmed down enough to go into the ring. Skyla was a basket case, totally wouldn’t settle to anything, and Miracle, although she tried, had her tail tucked and that was that!!!

I figure that was the omen for the drive home as the weather took a turn for the worst and we ended up staying overnight one more day as the highway was closed from Brandon to the Regina border.

For now that is it for my showing as I have a family reunion coming up in May and I won’t be out until mid June for the Regina show.
