spacerMiniature Pinscher

My first introduction to the Miniature Pinscher came about by accident. My veterinarian asked me to rescue an abused Min Pin that he knew about. My vet assured me that the people who owned the dog no longer wanted it and would be willing to give him up. I must say that I was very hesitant to take him when I did see him. He was very aggressive and scared to death. It was easy to see that he was badly treated. It took me almost 4 years of gentle handling and utmost patience to help him realize that life was not all bad. He is such a changed boy that you would not recognize him as the scared, neglected puppy who came to live with me. Less than two years later, I had occasion to rescue one more. This one was very poorly bred and has had numerous emergency visits to my vet. Both these boys are neutered and a very important part of my life.

Shortly thereafter, I received an e-mail from Carol Snaith of Sancardou Kennels offering me a lovely, red female puppy that she thought I might be interested in. To this day I do not know how she knew to contact me. But she changed my life. I had not thought about getting into the show world with the Min Pin, but have to admit that I love these little original dogs enormously. And the idea of little grooming was greatly appealing. So, I purchased her on contract to finish her in the show ring. She is now Ch. Sancardou’s Picachu I. C. U. And the rest as they say is history.

I have since met the most interesting, helpful and experienced person in Myrna Keyser of Teralea Miniature Pinschers. She has been my guide and mentor in all things Min Pin. I now have two of her min pins for my own and am showing one of her little boys. I find the Miniature Pinscher to be the most challenging, intriguing, individualistic and hilarious of dogs I have ever come across. They make me laugh out loud with their antics. Had it not been for my vets request to rescue that first min pin none of this would have happened.

Recently I have been elected the Western Director for our Canadian Miniature Pinscher Club.
